This course is dictated by the Biotechnology Center and the Faculty of Forest Sciences in a joint initiative with Forestal Arauco Inc, Forestal Mininco Inc, North Carolina State University (USA) and the Institute of Forest Biotechnology (USA).

Objetive:

The objective of the course is to revise the theoretical and methodological bases, tools, strategies and practical applications of biotechnology and genetic improvement in the forest sector.

Professors:

Course instructors include specialists from the University of Concepción, the Genetic Improvement Cooperative, forest companies, North Carolina State University (USA) and the Institute of Forest Biotechnology (USA).

Objective:

To teach the role of microorganisms in plant biology and ecology, and to apply innovative methods to the modification of microbe-plant interaction in order to improve the capacity of plants to produce healthy food and alternative fuels while looking after the environment.

Participant Profile:

This course is aimed at researchers, graduate students and professionals from the agroforestry area who are especially interested in plant biotechnology, control of bacterial infections in plants and bacterial monitoring of plants and fruits.

This course is dictated by the Biotechnology Center in a joint initiative with the Faculty of Natural and Oceanographic Sciences and the Chilean and Korean international Cooperation agencies, AGCI and KOICA.

Objetive:

This course aims to advance the development of aquaculture in the Bío-Bío Region and to promote the sustainable use of hydrobiological resources by helping to eliminate negative practices associated with them.
